TopicAre ectopic pregnancy procedures considered a type of abortion?

Long story short, found out last week my wife had a life threatening miscarriage. One of my little guys made it to the egg, and that egg got stuck in one of her tubes and was causing abnormal bleeding, and for 2 weeks we just chalked it up to "lady problems" because we didn't know she was capable of having a kid.

I spent all night in the hospital while my wife had that bad tube taken out. Doctors are saying they don't know if our odds of having a kid increased or decreased because her case wasn't a textbook example of an ectopic pregnancy (don't ask me why, have no idea). But they pretty much terminated what would have been an extremely complicated pregnancy by removing her tube.

Now I'm curious-- because technically we conceived-- would today's politics call that an abortion?

(Not wondering which side of the fence I should be on. I'm pro-life in terms of my own little family, but pro-choice overall.)
