TopicWhat's scarier: Castlevania or Pennsylvania?

I spent a good amount of time in Pennsylvania....and it is truly worse than Castlevania.

Pennsylvania has some of the most condensed populations of confirmed hate groups in America. It is a fascinating cesspool of anger and bankruptcy. Most of major highways have countless porn stores along them, because they are the only thing truckers can rely on, because everything else sucks.

You got inbred Amish creeps all over the south, and real backwoodsy redneck monstrosities to the north. It's almost like a freakin' Fantasy Novel with different races living in different areas of the world. Eastern PA has disgusting gutter creatures that breed with New Jersians. Western basketcases usually rely on methlabs that thrive in Ohio state. Central PA has a lot of gang activity, especially around Harrisburg, Reading, and State College.

Philadelphia to the southeast butchers most crime statistics. And Pittsburgh to the southwest doesn't do much better.

The most tragic part of all....is that PA used to be beautiful. Rolling hills, all the seasons in just the right amounts, lush countryside, rivers, valleys, plains.....but the rise of fracking within the past decade has ruined a lot of that.

Also, as a side-effect of the fracking, a lot of other things have been ruined: divorce statistics have gone through the roof due to out-of-state guys coming in to work with the natural gas. A lot of wives cheating on their husbands, because she found this new guy from Utah who makes six figures. A lot of kids growing up without fathers. Or the gas well guys (locals would call them "gasholes") will get a local woman pregnant, then move back to Kentucky (or wherever the fuck he was from) and never see her again.

A lot of the gasholes would bring new drugs to the area as well, because it was untapped potential. The gas wells brought a lot of money to the area, and it all went towards drugs, alcohol, and hotel rooms.

They also made landlords greedy fucks who would quradruple someone's rent, because they knew if they couldn't afford it, some gaggle of gasholes could. So in many areas of PA, if you wanted a ONE BEDROOM apartment, you could expect to pay well over a grand per month. Oftentimes more. I personally knew several people who were homeless for a while, or living in tent communities because they couldn't afford their rent anymore.

It was truly tragic.

Like the lovelife of Dracula.
