Whether the student did anything else in the interim, and how long apart the two actions were. Because the video is cut terribly. So it really depends on how it all pieces together. I don't agree w/ the idea that it's the faculty's job to be a punching bag in general, though. If a student assaults them, I have no problem with the teacher or janitor (in one poster's story above) hitting back, self-defense or not.
