Or maybe less writing than ambience but the story and cutscenes in D2 were infinitely better. Yeah, exactly. The atmosphere and ambience is fun, but the actual writing is not exactly Shakespeare. Sure but still by that measure, the first two games did a far better job. Mariuss story is 9000x more unsettling and compelling than Leahs. Oh sure, I'm just saying it was never the strong suit of the series. Stuff like this MADE Diablo for me. Its a little cheesy now mostly just by virtue of being 20 years old and pretty dated, but its still excellent for my money.
