Might want to turn your eye to the senate, then - it's rigged even worse than the electoral college.

Really, though, it always astounds me that for a nation that prides itself on being a standard bearer for democracy, the US has one of the most flagrantly undemocratic electoral systems I've seen amongst functional democracies. It's not like this is a new thing (see also: the three-fifths rule), but it seems to be getting worse these days given the increasing concentration of Americans in big cities. I read some analysis the other day that if demographic patterns continue for the next decade, by 2030 70% of the US population will be represented by just 30% of the senate.

Or, to put it another way, in just over ten-ish years, 15% of the population could elect a filibuster-proof supermajority to the US senate, with next to no recourse for the remaining 85% of the population.
