Indiana went to democrats in 2012 because a tea party republican primaried out a popular republican senator and the democrats managed to swoop into the void. McCaskill only won in 2012 because Todd "legitimate rape" Akin became a thing. North Dakota was never going to the democrats. The governor losses hurt more, particularly Ohio and Florida. Those were within reach and the Dems blew it there. They picked up some really nice wins and the house went much bluer than I thought, so overall it was still a good night.
