You do realize that you're not the only person who applies for a job, right? There are hundreds (sometimes even thousands) of people who apply for the same job as you. What most likely happened is that they were considering you, but in the end there was someone who was better qualified and so they hired that person instead. You also can't expect a call back just for them to say that they aren't hiring you. Very few companies do that. Think about it logically for a minute. If there are hundreds (thousands) of applicants, then you can't expect the company to call each and every one of them just to say that they aren't hired. I was personally recruited by a manager out of the blue. I didn't initiate contact with the company. Not even contacting someone to tell them to look elsewhere is worthy of earning no small amount of ire.
