Now, all of that speaks solely to Tylers EDIT, but there are other reasons to dislike him. Strategically, I will admit he is a decent player. He is naturally charming and was able to come off as disarming, so people trusted him. And in the early weeks of the game, he was able to float in the middle of the house and I give him a ton of credit for FOUTTEs destruction. Sure, they were incompetent in their own right, but his insistence on blindsiding them, even during the Winston/Rachel weeks, made it so that alliance could never really solidify the way Level 6 did. His manipulation of Kaitlyn to take out Swaggy only made Level 6 THAT much stronger.
However, while I can admit that Tyler played a strong game early on, I hate the impact he had on the season. Yeah, the first month was great, but Tylers influence made the season so lopsided that once FOUTTE inevitably crumbled, it was just six straight weeks of watching the same alliance get picked off again and again and again, in large part because of the disparity in cohesion between the two alliances. And because Tyler was the figurehead, he got to claim credit EVERY time and got to give the Were ahead, but Level 6 needs to win this HoH to control the house this week Diary Room. Its boring, and everyone who talks about how he made so many moveshe really only made two moves: flipping Kaitlyn weeks 1 and 2, and blindsiding Brett (in what was honestly poor social play on his part.) Everything else was just stick with Level 6, make final two deals with people and thats it.
Im not gonna bash Tangela in this write-up because honestly? I dont really care. I dislike them both, but I dont dislike them as a couple. If anything, the relationship humanized Angela, and gave Tyler content beyond just constant gameplay Diary Rooms. Plus, I think the showmance is a part of what ultimately killed Tylers game, because he got sloppy and went from controlling everything, to letting Angela have more sway in his decisions. He needed her on the jury a little earlier to advocate for him, so keeping her to the final four did him no favors. That being said, Tangela was definitely the least interesting of the seasons three major showmances though, Ill say that much negative about them.
I dont think I have anything else to say about Tylers time in the house, so Im gonna close with the most actively-annoying aspect of Tyler for me: his fans. Its no secret that I was rooting for FOUTTE this season. Im aware and acknowledge that most (if not all) of them were awful people, but they were FAR more interesting than any member of Level 6. Yet ALL. SEASON. LONG. Tylers fans were utterly unbearable. The guy won the second power app and the AFP prize, so he was far and away the most popular player of BB20, which is fine. I mean, I loved Cody and Victor and DonnyIm not averse to rooting for the fan favorite. But this was different. This was overwhelming love and support for the overwhelming overdog of the season, whichwas awful to deal with.
