If you use video games as a medium for expressing racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other kind of bigotry, then you can expect the same kind of backlash as if you had expressed that same bigotry in any other medium. Saying that something can't possibly qualify as bigotry because you chose video games as your medium of expression is like saying The Birth of a Nation (1915) isn't racist because it's just a movie. That's not how this works. Bigotry is bigotry. The medium is irrelevant.

Ummm... Wow. Okay. First off; I know this is shocking but it's entirely possible to watch, even enjoy, a movie while not agreeing with its themes and the like. People are capable of separating reality from fantasy... or at least they used to be able to do so. I mean, just because you enjoyed, say, Ocean's Eleven doesn't mean you're about to run out and rob a bank; right? Or that you enjoyed Scarface... so you obviously support drug lords. It's also scientifically impossible for a creationist to enjoy Pokemon or an atheist to enjoy Dungeons and Dragons by this logic. I mean, I can't think of a single situation in which enjoying a book/movie/game/whatever means you have to approve of what's being portrayed. Do you enjoy the painting of Zeus and Leda? Does that mean you approve of women being raped by animals?

It used to be that people could split reality from fantasy. I suspect a lot of the modern generation can't do that now though. That's probably why we have such a rash of politically-laden movies and things like the dumb-ass notion that protagonists have to be near-perfect or something. Because people seem to think that, because a movie/game/book said it, it's true. I bet a ton of people think that the only thing stopping Republican's from going full Handmaid's Tale is their proud liberal agenda's beating down the ignorant masses. Course the moment that someone gets concerned that things are getting Orwellian they immediately can split reality from fantasy and the people who are expressing their concerns are delusional nutjobs who can't split reality from fantasy.
