The plan would then be to send a big satellite out to sit next to the asteroid for years, slowly altering the path via gravitational pull between the asteroid and satellite. Altering the path by just a tiny fraction of a degree when it is travelling that huge distance would cause it to miss. That's pretty fucking cool My fantasy plan would be to install huge ass turbines at major points around the earth and use them to spin the earth around it's solar orbit faster so the asteroid would miss But there's probably a million things wrong with that plan lmao --- ...
