The most obvious example is Red, who was using his terrible SSB appearance. He survived against big threats like Sora and Big Boss, but then lost to Alucard of all characters, who used his classic artwork. The same could apply here, it's a modern render of Luigi (which isn't terrible due tbh) against classic artwork Tifa.
