I live near Chicago and don't like ketchup, but you'd offend less people shitting on a cross than getting ketchup on a hotdog for some reason.

This is true. I dont eat hot dogs much anymore but growing up I ate them rather plain and anytime I ordered I got crucified by my friends and family.
