Yes, I think that theory was tossed around when Squall got destroyed by Zelda. A lot of that result was Zelda boosting, but Squall clearly dropped as well because he did worse against Zelda than Aerith did. Traditionally, Squall would have beaten Aerith in a direct match in every single year except for 2002, 2003, and 2018. KH's epic collapse on this site over the past years may be why characters like Squall have felt the pain more than most of the other FF characters since he boosted from Kingdom Hearts.
