Hopefully there's no sound in these ads. That would make them tolerable. Otherwise, I'm going to have trouble working around this.

how troubling of a work around can pressing the mute button be for you?

You do know what pause is supposed to do, right? Like when you use it, sound is supposed to stop. Not continue because of an intrusive ad. Pause has worked the same way as it always has for decades. Don't know how this news just snuck up on you though.

i mean yeah, if there is sound that would be an added nuisance. i'm not arguing that it wouldn't be best implemented without sound. but i don't think that the "work around" of pressing the mute button is particularly troublesome.

Imagine you're watching this quiet scene in a movie you're really loving. Somebody asks you to pause the movie. So you press pause. Suddenly there's loud noises and shit coming from an annoying ass commercial. Sure you can hit mute, but you're still gonna hear that shit for a second or two before you hit the mute button.

That's annoying. Really annoying. I won't stand for it. It is detrimental to quality TV/Movie watching.
