No, they're expressing their authority and teaching the child what life is like. That's always the case in every situation. The person with the authority makes the rules. This is the logic that child abusers (and domestic abusers in general) use. It's not a blanket "my house my rules" As a parent you're responsible for raising your child properly and humanely.
