Crono- An absolute amazing showing for this guy. Everybody talked about how he has not had a new game in two decades, is not in Smash, blah blah blah. Many people had him losing first round in the Legends bracket and he was arguably the weakest N9 character pre-contest. Despite all that, Crono showed that Chrono Trigger's performance last Games contest was no fluke. First he ousted King Koopa himself, who many pegged as a rally favorite due to Bowsette, before losing to Cloud. That loss was expected. But he later battled Mega Man. This would be the test for him. In his heyday, Crono would mop the floor with this guy. But since then, Mega Man has been included in Smash and was featured in several games. And in a contest where any Smash character reaped a 10% boost, Crono still took him down. It was one of the closer matches we had and although Crono was the underdog, he found yet another way to win a 51/49 match. Has any other entrant consistently provided so many close matches? Regardless, he withstood the test of time and once he is revealed in Smash, he will skyrocket to Samus-level.

Mega Man- Much of what can be said about him is included in Crono's write-up. Except for his epic battles with Pikachu. Everyone knew Pokefear was a thing, and once the bracket revealed Mega Man as the poor soul facing the dreaded rat, it was anyone's guess as toward who would prevail. Most people sided with Mega Man, even as the contest unfolded, and boy did the match live up to the hype. A nail-biting affair, it came down to the final hour. In the end, Pikachu came out on top. But this was not the end of it. Due to the format of the Losers bracket, these two were destined to meet again. In yet another good but not-as-close affair, Mega Man exacted revenge. Call it rallying against Pokemon, or Mega Man fans realizing they couldn't chance a Pikachu vote this time around, or whatever...Mega Man got the last laugh. The jury is still out on who is actually stronger, but that's a question that can only be answered with another contest down the road. One must wonder though, did Smash even affect his strength? It sure didnt seem like it. Such wasted potential.

Pikachu- There were several Pokmon representatives in this contest. But for whatever reason, Pikachu has the most strength and support. His performances in contests past indicated that he would be the leading candidate for the N9 Breaker. He tore through his side of the main bracket before ultimately meeting with Mega Man. I wrote about it already in Mega Mans bio, but golly, this rat did damage. Despite the narrow victory, despite people saying it would happen, despite it allthis was a telling victory for Pikachu. Sadly, it was a short-lived one as he promptly got swallowed by Link and then dropped the ball on Mega Man part two. Nonetheless, it accomplished what it set out to do: defeat a member of the N9 (asterisk: total vote count).

Mega Man X-The bracket came out and he was set to battle Tifa in the semi-finals in his division. A division where neither of them were the one seed. A division where Luigi drew the long straw to have a free ride to the division finals, only to be defeated by whomever won between these two. Pre-contest, X was the favorite. As the contest continued and Final Fantasys decline became apparent, he remained the favorite. The match came and it was a lot closer than most anticipated. The match went back and forth for hours. It all came down to the literal final hour when the controversial hentai-rallying began. Whether it played a significant remains up for debate, but this match had monumental impacts as it would later set up Tifa to defeat Sephiroth. Oh, and the questions still remains. Who is stronger, Mega Man or X, and should they both be included in a bracket? I dont know, and no. Regardless, X showed that he is a force to be reckoned with, despite his early exit.
