I doubt it's a sicko just trying to host pics as surely they wouldn't need to use a third party site for that to share child porn.
I remember a long time ago reading a story about a child porn ring the FBI busted where like, I mean it was a whole website community of the shit, and I'm sure places like that can host the images itself. Using third party sites would be needless and stupid.
So I'm pretty sure anyone uploading it to your site did so purely for malicious reasons aimed towards you.
True, that's always a likely possibility. Just sucks it had to happen at all.

Quite literally exactly what we thought happened. Some ideologues on reddit found out there was a competitor to imgur up, and they did what they always do when they find out there's a competitor to imgur up. They upload their child porn which they for some reason always have lying around in their hard drives to it and then say "Hey, this site has child porn on it! Take it down!"
nothing he said confirmed that and in fact there were numerous suspicious accounts in this topic trying to push the "CP haven" bullshit long before he confirmed what got the site locked down
For some reason this is always the case. Interesting indeed. ---
