I've never understood the nunchaku ban, especially in the US where personal firearms ownership is legal to a ridiculous extent. Nunchaku aren't even the most dangerous weapon in their "family" of traditional Okinawan weapons; if I wanted to cause damage, sai would be my weapon of choice if I wanted portability, with a bo or eku being the better option if that wasn't a necessity. Even a simple cane can cause more damage,

Nunchaku are great for grappling (one of their original uses was as a sort of primitive form of handcuffs), but they're only so-so at best as a bludgeoning tool.
