The occasion, Scardina told the bakerys employees, was to celebrate her birthday, as well as the seventh anniversary of the day she had come out as transgender.
Masterpiece Cakeshop ultimately refused Scardinas order on religious grounds.
Phillips declined to create the cake with the blue-and-pink design because it would have celebrated messages contrary to his religious belief that sex the status of being male or female is given by God, is biologically determined, is not determined by perceptions or feelings, and cannot be chosen or changed, the complaint stated.
If she just left it at birthday, cake would've been made.
Also, I'd love to find out if this person had a cake for the other anniversaries.
This is defintely a gray area As obviously was done to provoke another case
Except he still would have served her even though shes transgender. Why did he change his mind only after learning who she was?
If it was fine before she said she was transgendered, why is it not fine after he learned she was transgendered.
Thats called discrimination.
Last I checked it was after they said what the cake was for (7th anniversary of coming out).
It was when the cake was about the anniversary, If they just left it at its a blue and pink cake for a birthday, he would've made it.
He wouldn't make a cake for a divorced person either for getting divorced. ---
