So do they get the move set from Donkey Kong, Diddy, and the thiefguy?

Still not understanding the outrage here

Basically whatever fighter represents the Spirit, they are supposed to use moves that represent that fighter. For Dee Jay since his moves consist of acrobatic kicks, Diddy spams Side B which is a flip kick.
For Sandman DK's punches are buffed plus the stage has a tendency to put you to sleep, with a hidden reference that DK took Sandman's place in Punch-Out Wii. Tac is a thief enemy from Kirby and Villager's standard B is Pocket, which steals items and enemy projectiles to use later.

So there are legitimate reasons for the characters chosen, but an unfortunate side-effect that comes in western countries.
