Some folks simply baby their cars and feel it is better to do something yourself, assuming you have the tools and experience. Forgot where my friend took his dad's van to but the mechanic didn't align the drain plug correctly and stripped it and the oil pan when tightening the bolt. What shoulda been a $20-40ish oil change turned into $400+ because they had to change the oil pan too. I would take my car in for an oil change if I want to combine both an oil change and general inspection at the same time. Though once I had to take it in because the previous mechanic over-tighten the drain plug and I simply could not loosen it when I was changing the oil myself. --- "You must gather your party before venturing forth" "Go for the eyes Boo!
