That's not how it works. Gaming computers can last for years and really the only thing that would even need to be replaced if you want to stay active in PC gaming is the graphics card.

To add to this:
1. New consoles are released every 5-7 years usually, so about the time you might have to upgrade your PC. (This isn't including mid-gen upgrades such as PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, New 3DS, etc.)
2. PC usually has better digital sales than console counterparts.
3. You don't pay for online on top of your internet connection on PC.
4. Due to steps 2 and 3, you will most likely save more money in the long run compared to consoles.

The only huge cost is the initial cost of building a PC. But even them that's not much more than consoles when there have been consoles that have launched at $500-600... <_<

Depends. I mean Switch was only $300. And online for a year is $20. Which is pretty cheap. But they are different since they have mostly exclusives. For the others, it depends. Sure, you have to pay a good amount for online. If you want online. Though, they can help you get certain games for free and discounts on lots of other ones. But she was saying to buy a used consoles. Which would probably be much cheaper than building a PC. As for the sales, steam has good sales (because they understand that digital and physical shouldnt cost the same amount), but thats usually after a little while. If Im getting a game when it comes out, then the sale prices wouldnt matter.

But it all depends...
