I've been living in Austin since 2014.

Traffic--is pretty bad, so live close to your work.

Heat--is annoying, but just stay inside lol

Jobs--I work in tech, I have no problems finding work

Costs--I guess do your research?

Respect us--LOL no. When texas does something stupid, feel free to mock it. But Texans are definitely proud of their state and it's kind of cool seeing it in action. But in general you shouldn't show texans any more or less respect than people from anywhere else

"Don't tell people you're not Texan" territoriality--LOL who cares. A lot of elitist native Texans think they are better than people who moved there, and they love to toot their horn about it and let you know that they were here first. The people who say this aren't worth your snot. New residents from elsewhere in any place generally means some good things and some bad things. Instead of trying to lock off the state to newcomers, people should invite their cool friends to make the place better. If you are a good person then just forget the morons who try to guilt you.
