You know, except for the part that the 2nd season literally dealt with one big bad that they had to figure out a way to beat for the whole season, and it took them a few episodes to get out of the magnetic ocean thing. Also, it is ultimately an anime. If they took multiple episodes beating each and every enemy, they'd probably have to go on forever. Pacing was never a problem for Gurren Lagann

For Simon, he was vastly a different character than Kamina. He had a lot more to actually fight for than Kamina, who more or less sorta fought for himself and what he believed in. Where Kamina was something of a one man leader, Simon was always reliant on everybody contributing. This is why Kamina's best form only ever really incorporated just Simon while Simon's final form included everybody who was still alive.

Also, how the hell did you forget about Kittan sacrificing himself so that everybody else can escape lol. He had an insane arc (aka fucking character development) and developed spiral powers on the level of Kamina and Simon, who he always felt overshadowed by, as a big fulfilling resolution to his character as a whole.

Rossiu wasn't a douche. Simon just wasn't doing his work, and society advanced far enough that Simon slacking affected everybody. Rossiu was the one keeping everything afloat. He also knew Simon didn't want to get chained down by the command, so he was developing the world to the point where Simon didn't have to feel pressured to save the world on his own.

As for Yoko's boobs hanging out, that's a you problem.
