My cat kinda just sits in front of their pen and watches them. He hasn't done anything shady (yet) but I'm also supervising him. I would never leave him alone with them though. Be very careful, you can let them interact with cats but only while supervised at all times. A while back I had a guinea pig who managed to chew her way out of her cage, and my roommates cat attacked her and she ended up losing an eye.
