She sat alone in the dark, next to her boyfriend who shed been contemplating breaking up with for the past few months. Alice knew she was far better than him, but something awful and monstrous inside herself kept the relationship together by a thread - mostly consisting of small talk and other meaningless conversations that simply would not occur if they werent forced to occur. He was uninteresting, plain, simple minded. She was his opposite.

Alice was in deep to her grief, feeling lost for so long. For her to have feelings for someone so pathetic and insignificant, so unappealing to her, was to leave a void that would quickly fill; she felt utterly helpless if she felt any desire to see him again. Her dreams were so filled with fear and dread, that she would never sleep for days. It was the day after the last day of classes that she left with the rest of her class; she had to walk home by herself that day, to avoid the usual fearful stares from the nearby students, who she didn't want to be near. She thought back to the night before when she arrived at her parent's house, and realized that something very wrong was going down in this world. She was very anxious, that night, as she ran through her mind trying to get everything together to go to sleep that night.
