It's pretty clear that humans are not like other animals. Our social structures and emotions are so much more complex than those of any other animal that the comparison to chimps and dogs is simply ludicrous and has no place in this discussion. We discuss humanity as it is. Not in relation to species that don't have notions of culture and identity. A healthy relationship is based on trust, respect, sacrifice and the kind of exclusivity that makes someone feel special.
