And our company was all US based. So it was people who's names were middle eastern or Mexican and they were calling themselves Joe or something.

I wouldn't call it racist but more of an effect of racism


Racism is the wrong word in this situation. Ethnocentric would be more appropriate.

Personally, I have a very hard time understanding Indian accents, to the point where I cant hold the conversation. I'm sure an American who spoke Indian might have a very bad accent in the reverse situation to the point where he could not be understood as well. It's not racism.
