No. If someone didn't want to hire a trans person who was the best person for the job or they refused to do business with them I would say that's transphobic, but not for not wanting to date or be friends with a trans person

How so? That's part of your private/personal life. As long as you don't treat trans people badly in work/business then you're not transphobic.

If you say "I'm not willing to be friends with a black person" is it not racist then? Honest question.


I think the race/gender equivalency thing is always bad to make for what I hope are obvious reasons.

I'm speaking strictly in the friendship standpoint only. Is it racist to say you won't be friends with a black person, and is it transphobic to say you won't be friends with a trans?

That's the only point i'm making, and it's not from a factual standpoint, it's more of a genuine question, or is there enough of a separation in meaning to make them different?


The only possible defense I could see for this is that being Trans is a choice and you can't control the color of your skin.

It's also much more jarring to see a trans person than seeing someone of a different skin color.

That's just my hypothesis
