Honestly this sort of shit terrifies me. You can be drinking at a party, enjoying yourself maybe a little too much, and eventually spiral into an intoxicated state and ruin your life, and more importantly endanger other people. It's like you just fall into this scenario and wake up to the ramifications of it, shit can happen to any of us.

I assume it would have said so if he had been drinking. It sounds more like the concussion from the crash wiped out his memory of that day. Similar thing happened to me when I got a concussion from a snowboarding accident, I have hardly any memory of that morning and apparently the first thing I said to my friend after getting up was, "I don't remember what I had for breakfast."
