The country's is founded on "because I can". These people were horrific morons with little care for anyone outside their circle. The core of America is built on greed and self interest primarily at the cost of others. That's how they feel good about, because exploitation produces results in the form of pain and suffering and that kind of thing can really elevate the people it isn't happening to. It's a place where weak people leech off the strength of those they oppress, of course they feel the need to walk around with a literal killing machine when it's obviously wrong to do so
