I won't lie, I never bothered legitimately doing the side quest to unlock the super boss/ teacher of Jade and Dist. :l Used the world map glitch by opening the tray. That's also how I did the mushroom area side quest the first few playthroughs, because getting the airship item that maxes its speed bypasses the quest to unlock the hover skill needed to get to that dungeon in the first place.
