I feel like the Spider-Man MCU movies haven't even done that well at the box office. 2002's Spider-Man is still the most successful domestically at the box office, and that's without even taking inflation amount. Sure, they've benefited from being in the MCU, but that's only because the Amazing movies hurt the brand. Spider-Man's still not as big as when the original trilogy came out.

I think this is glossing over a lot of important points, such as the fact that the 2002 Spiderman likely only did as well as it did because it was the first, at a time when it was still novel. Not counting the MCU movies, each Sony Spiderman movie since has done worse than the one before it, and that's including Spider-Verse. That signifies a definite trend in lack of interest/faith and so on. And while Spider-Verse may have helped, it was the MCU that greatly bucked that trend.

It's kind of weird to say Spiderman's not as big as when the original trilogy came out when FFH beats everything in the original trilogy worldwide, and only loses to the original in domestic.
