He may not be referred to his name directly in the game, but you still get to experience the world of Spira with him and see him grow and develop as a person. You may love or hate the laugh scene or his voice/appearance in general, but his role of being relatable as a new person in a big world while still having his own personality is quite memorable. Mana - Before playing FFX last year, I only knew Tidus as the Meg Ryan blitzball player who has a terrible laugh, but after playing, I was surprised and taken by how well developed the character was and how he matured over the course of the game. He was a great POV character with a very different understanding of the world he's in, not just with geography or history but with understanding the racial issues with the Al Bhed, the curious traditions of the summoner's pilgrimage, and the apathetic fear of Sin.
