Mana - The best protagonist. She has the stubborn idealism that makes Vyse the legend. She has the growth from someone brash and arrogant to noble and empowering like Tidus. She has the duty of Celes as well as her spirit and bonds. She has the can-do helpful teenager with attitude mindset of the best Power Rangers, always fighting the baddest monsters while volunteering her free time to fix streetlights and find lost kittens. Estelle is absolutely incredible and her strength is in her willpower and belief in people. There are plenty of other leads who try for this and oftentimes fall off that narrow edge and become too treacly and perfect or too generic and cardboard. Estelle is not perfect, but she learns, picks herself up, and pushes forward, inspiring the hearts and minds of those around her.

Metalmind - I am a bad Trails fan who has only played roughly halfway through FC to date. Even in that relatively short time, however, Estelle has already etched a place high up among my favorite video game characters. It would have been easy for her almost eternally sunny disposition and airheaded, frank-to-a-fault nature, not to mention personality quirks such as her searing anger when belittled, to grate. That risk is even greater given Estelles role as the main protagonist, so its to Falcoms eternal credit that she instead proves endearing, aided by the contrast with her adopted brother Joshua. Perhaps the best example of their interplay and the depths of their bond comes from a simple scene where the two eat a sandwich together. Estelles coming-of-age story and character growth therein further helps make her a great character. Of course, I cant end this write-up without reminding you that she has a very big stick.
