He had a mobile appearance that was far less of a justification than Persona Q. People even argued that Snake was more of a Sony character and he was the first 3rd party. I think Snake and Sonic especially changed this. Snake, despite his new game coming out on Playstation 3 exclusively (and most of his other major games being Playstation-exclusive), people excused due to the Twin Snakes, which was funded by Nintendo and developed by former second-party developer Silicon Knights. Also, he had a couple of NES games, even if one is supposedly a poor port and the other is a Western-made non-canon follow-up, as well as Ghost Babel on the Game Boy Color. And Sonic is Sonic. He pretty much made a home for himself on Nintendo consoles after SEGA imploded as a hardware developer.
