Just feels like Kojima's trying super hard to be a Lynchian game dev but we've seen no shadow of any real substance to back it up. The "gameplay" all just seems like an incoherent pile of "wouldn't this be cool" mechanics that Kojima probably pulled from his dreams or something. I want to believe it'll be good, but I'm just not seeing any indication that Unchained Kojima is the auteur he acts like he is. hot take: Kojima has always been like that and yet his output is still very enjoyable and entertaining despite being less deep than it tries to pass itself off as, so this isn't a bad thing. MGS contains groundbreaking shit but also way more tryhard elements that still manage to be cool, and that's okay! --- DPOblivion was far more determined than me. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
