Wow it's almost like being white right now

That's racist. The vast majority of white people do not have a headstart and there are more white people in poverty than you realize.

If I knew how it would be accomplished then I wouldn't be here, I'd be on Capitol Hill. So you answered for me if it's a loaded question.

Why would you ask for something that you don't even have any ideas about? Surely when you ask for reparations you have SOME idea of what you are asking for.

How do you prevent slavery from being unfair to the millions of people who were subjected to it? Or their second-class status throughout the Reconstruction era and into the late 60s? Or the mass incarceration of nonwhites for nonviolent offences?
You don't. Plain and simple.

Black women get more lenient sentencing for the same crimes than white or Hispanic women. So you should reconsider your stance from being about "the mass incarceration of non-whites" because it's a lot more complicated than that.

Those people from the 60s definitely had a hard time but I would say that anyone born in our generation had the same opportunities available regardless of race. Unless you live in Alabama or something.

Are they asking for them? If they believe they're entitled to it then they should build a case for it and advocate for it just as much as black americans have.

If you expect Americans in general to ask for reparations on behalf of one race, why aren't you expecting that on behalf of every race? Is it because the eastern Europeans and Irish have white skin and you are already assuming a priori that anyone with white skin has a head start? That'd be racist.

So we just shrug our shoulders and say there's nothing we can do after we've done nothing to address it in the first place? And hope that over the next decade we will pass social legislation that will take even longer before its effects on the lowest classes can even be measured?

Those whom society has rejected for the past century aren't looking for a long term solution. They're looking for relief. Because that's what's current to their survival.

Well then what specifically do you propose be done as reparations? In what amount, with funding from where? And how would you explain the inequity to the tens of millions of poor white people who had no part in slavery and who will now have to contend with competing against people who receive a $100,000 windfall?

How would you go about finding out who to give reparations to? Is it anyone who is born in America and is black? What if their parents came from another country recently and the household is doing well financially? What if they are descendants of people who were not slaves? Do you just give reparations to anyone who is of African origin?

I mean you kind of have to flesh this out if you're going to say this is owed to specific people rather than argue for universal programs that benefit the working class as a whole.
