A ton of people like it, for some reason. Just take the aspect that people like about it and make it super mainstream. Pretty sure it's mostly visual, so just make the movie really really pretty. People also like it because it's meme-y and people like to laugh at it. People liked Jim Carey (meme), hated Sonic (ugly), and hated the theme (ugly).
