| the0rebirth 10/03/19 4:29:53 PM #21: | If the age of consent was 20, people would judge you just as harshly for being 22 and dating an 18/19-year-old as they'd currently judge you for being 20 and dating a 16/17-year-old. Basically, it is indeed arbitrary, but only to an extent. Most people go through puberty when they're around 13, but that's obviously too young to be having sex and/or getting involved in relationships. I think the age of consent should ideally be based on a combination of biology and the expected maturation of the average person by a given age based on the way society is structured (i.e., in a theoretical society where the average 16/17-year-old is done with high school and is as smart/skilled/capable as the average real-life 22-year-old, a younger age of consent would be understandable). --- "The Dragon Ball Super anime is lowering the IQ of the characters so the DB fan base can relate to them better." -Acharyap28 ...
