Did today's workout in an indoor track, fastest mile today was 4:48.
Edit: But now that I think about it, I can definitely go faster. The track was 200 m, 3 lanes, the corners were particularly rough and I had to slow myself down considerably to hit them. Gonna find a straight mile somewhere out there and report back. I know I can do a mile in under 4:30, maybe even right at 4:20. I was besting 4:50s - :40s in high school and I'm considerably better now.
You aren't far from da record which is 3:43.13
Bro when you reach sub-5 minutes/mile you're pretty much splitting hairs because that's how negligible any sort of improvement will be. I doubt I'll even hit a sub-4 in the next two years.
Going from 10 to 9 to 8 to 7 to 6 minute miles is something that can be done in, I honestly believe, two years. Once you start hitting sub-5, you're doing months of training just to cut off a couple seconds. Improvements become less and less pronounced.
