The original "Derangement Syndrome" was "Bush Derangement Syndrome" - it's not a real thing and never was. It was a conservative columnist's tongue-in-cheek joke aimed at anti-Bush liberals; it was never meant to be taken seriously.

Naturally, morons took the ball and ran with it and haven't shut up about it since.
