While he's right that people aren't perfect and canceling people for imperfection is toxic, it's an odd thing coming from a former president who ran on "change" in the context of a presidential primary race. While no candidate is perfect, young people need to push the Overton window as far to the left as they can during a primary. We can't afford, for example, four years of Biden. And it's frustrating to see candidates run on "I'm better than Trump, so suck it up, buttercup."

No, we shouldn't and can't expect perfection, but we should expect and fight for better than what we're getting from the Democrats. We've got 18 candidates still in the race and most of them are pathetic on policy. This is not the time to settle, particularly in this anti-establishment, populist political era.

The concept of Western democracy is, sadly, based entirely on settling. It always has been in essence "which of these turds is the shiniest?" Even Obama, one of the most popular presidents in a long time, had haters.

There's a Scandinavian country whose name currently escapes me that practices TRUE democracy, where EVERYTHING the government does can be taken to a public vote. But America (and the rest of the west by extension) will never do that because it requires the higher ups to surrender their power. They know this, and that's why they can afford to force the voting public to "settle".
