Where did this weird idea come from that whatever the current profit level of a company is "right", therefore any increase in expenses should be eaten by customers/employees? And why does it not apply when a company becomes more profitable? It's not a weird idea. The goal of a business is profit, so it only makes sense that they would try to maximize profits and pass on their additional expenses to consumers by charging them more.
