The film is great and I think only gets better the older you get and the farther we get from 80s action i watched it many times as a kid and was surprised to find out that a lot of people on the internet dislike it. some of the complaints (for example, that the movie-within-a-movie seems more like a weird goofy kids movie than a legit '80s arnold movie) i do get, though. When I watched Last Action Hero for the first time in 2016 I found it to be a big dull mess, although it was directed and acted about as well as it could have been considering that. The concept should definitely be revisited sometime.
