I mean sure, if someone on an academic scholarship makes a large enough amount of money then they should have to give back their scholarship too. But that's so rare it's not even worth considering. I'm thinking hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more. Why? Why should whether or not someone should be able to take advantage of a scholarship that they rightfully qualify and earned be paid back just because they made a lot of money doing something that, quite frankly, is none of the schools business? And does this spread to parents too? Like if a kid rightfully earns a full ride based on his academics, should he not be able to accept it if his parents are millionaires and can easily afford his tuition? Or maybe if his parents died and left him a bunch of money? Whether or not it's rare that a non athlete would be able to as easily make a lot of money is irrelevant. I'd bet that in the history of the world, there has probably been at least a few people that won a scholarship and then made a bunch of money while in school somehow and I'd wager no one was telling them that they should be forced to pay their scholarship back. And if it's never happened, I'd wager that if it did happen, again, no one would ever think of telling them to pay their scholarship back.
