Or more likely the case, they have people willing to bend over backwards and take it up the backside and work themselves to death instead of quitting.

Apparently the managers have been getting fussed at about the amount of overtime we've been getting. The company doesn't like this situation any more than we do, my coworker is just the only one unwilling to help ease the burden a bit by working an earlier shift than he likes. This guy gets 3 days in a row off this week, I get 2 but they're split up, and my manager only gets one. It won't hurt him to miss a Sunday afternoon one time, and his underhanded tricks and trying to lie/manipulate his way out of it is just annoying. He's perfectly happy to leave me hanging with just 6 hours rest between shifts, but 3 days is unfair to him? Even with him being out of town, and "not having time" to get to work puts him getting home at 3am, which leaves him 12 hours compared to the 6 I'd get. Not that I even believe he's going anywhere to begin with.

koga, didn't you say that you were English? or is that someone else i was thinking about

No, I live in Virginia USA, always have. I've had people ask things like this quite a bit recently, I don't recall ever saying anything that could cause people to think that.
