I get the feeling that most of the people voting plain metal key with no electronics are simply unaware that their key is encoded with an electronic signature that is read by the car to verify that the correct key was inserted. Its kinda like a credit card magnetic strip, and unless your car is like 40 years old youve probably got one of those. You can tell really easily if your key doesnt really look like a house key and just is mostly straight and smooth with barely any notches at all.
