But even beyond safety alone, long bus rides tend to be hellish in terms of comfort/convenience. I'd recommend train/plane if at all possible. Depending on how far away she lives, I'd almost suggest having someone drive to pick her up... but that's more feasible for a 4-8 hour drive than, say, a 12+ hour one.
