Your logic implies the only viable option is that the government pays for nothing. Because if you're going to say we can't have universal health care for example because it's socialist then we can't have any government-funded programs at all because they are socialist. In fact the government costs money so we shouldn't have that either. The world doesn't work like that.

And BTW, socialist means taking control of the economy, not taking part in a free market. That is why private security companies exist, but for most people it makes a lot more sense to just call 911.

That's why I disagree with people who think private insurance should be banned. The only way universal health care will be affordable is to also have supplementary private insurance like most countries with universal health care do.
